  Rose Care

Display your roses in a cool location away from direct sunlight and drafts. Cut your rose stems at an angle under water or running water about one inch from the bottom. Take off any leaves that will be below the waterline. When the stems start to brown, keep your flowers living longer by cutting them and changing the water. Pull off any outer petals that are discolored or damaged.

CUTTING YOUR ROSES
Roses should be cut and the water should be changed on day 3. Using shears, cut about an inch off the end of each stem. Hold the end of each stem under running water or submerge the stem in water while cutting at an angle to avoid the stem-end drawing in air. Be careful not to cut through or scrape the green bark on the outside of the stem or the water will not travel through the stem past the damaged point causing the rose to die.

REVIVING A WILTED ROSE
Occasionally a rose will wilt or develop a weak stem just below the bud, causing the bloom to tip over. If this happens, re-cut that stem at an extreme angle about one inch from the base of the stem, submerge the entire rose in warm water in a sink or bathtub for about 20 minutes. The rose may have absorbed enough water to revive itself and can be replaced in the arrangement. When reviving a rose in this manner, we suggest the water be hot, not boiling. Please be sure to straighten the angle of the head or it will revive with a "bent neck."

ROSE DYING
"Flower shock" is an extreme temperature fluctuation from cold to hot that can cause all of your roses to die at once. Be careful not to move you flowers from a cool room to a high heat environment such as a hot car or into a room warmer than 70 deg.F. Always avoid placing your flowers under warm air drafts.

  Flower Care

Check the water supply immediately upon arrival. Add lukewarm water as needed. For best results, use floral preservative, if provided. Mix the preservative with room temperature water, in the proportion recommended on the package. If floral foam is used, make sure it is always thoroughly saturated. Check your arrangement daily to make sure it has plenty of clear, fresh water. Display your arrangement in a cool location, out of direct sunlight and away from electrical appliances. Avoid particularly hot or cold areas. Flowers should be cut and the water should be changed on day 3.

To rearrange any flowers, re-cut the stem ends under water using a sharp knife or scissors. Then, insert each flower back into the arrangement. If floral foam is used, be sure to insert the stems firmly and deeply.
